We are proud to celebrate Saniyya for earning 1st Place in the Individual Exhibit – Person Category at the Regional National History Day competition in Searcy, Arkansas!
Saniyya’s project highlighted Oprah Winfrey: The Voice of Change, sharing how Oprah’s life experiences and determination inspired millions to focus on self-growth and making a positive impact in the world.
Because of her outstanding work, Saniyya will advance to the State National History Day Competition at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas this April.

The Fight for the Right – Women’s Rights
Presenters: Cailyn and Peightlynn
Cailyn and Peightlynn presented a project titled “The Fight for the Right,” which focused on the struggle for women’s rights. Their presentation explained how women worked for many years to gain equal rights, including the right to vote. They discussed important leaders and movements that helped change laws and expand opportunities for women. Their project highlighted how determination and activism helped women achieve greater equality in society.
Oprah Winfrey: The Voice of Change
Presenter: Saniyya
Saniyya presented a project about Oprah Winfrey and how she became a powerful voice for change. The presentation explained Oprah’s childhood and the challenges she faced while growing up. Despite many hardships, Oprah worked hard to become a successful talk show host and media leader. Her story shows how perseverance and confidence can inspire others to focus on self-growth and making a positive difference in the world.
The Life and Work of Susan B. Anthony
Presenters: Princess, Jonna, and Da'Nhaya
This project explored the life and achievements of Susan B. Anthony, a leader in the women’s suffrage movement. The presentation explained how women were not allowed to vote and had limited rights in the past. Susan B. Anthony worked tirelessly to advocate for equality and helped organize efforts that eventually led to women gaining the right to vote. Her work played a major role in the fight for equal rights for women in the United States.
Jackie Robinson: Breaking Barriers
Presenters: Jayson, Kylan, and Ayden
Jayson Debro, Kylan Dorn, and Ayden Muhammad presented a project about Jackie Robinson, the first Black player in Major League Baseball in the modern era. Their presentation explained how Robinson broke racial barriers in professional baseball and faced many challenges with courage and determination. In addition to baseball, Jackie Robinson was also talented in other sports such as track, football, and basketball. His legacy shows how bravery and perseverance can help bring about important social change.

Thirty Fourth Elementary School scholars proudly participated in the 2025–2026 District Spelling Bee on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. We are excited to announce the following results:

Pine Bluff School District (PBSD) will observe Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 19, 2026. There will be no school for students and staff on this day. School will resume on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

📚✨ Our district's Librarian PLC recently had the pleasure of attending—and hosting—this quarter’s JobAlike library meeting at the SEARK Coop. Collaboration and creativity were on full display! Led by 34th Elementary librarian Wendy Camarillo, the team engaged in hands-on activities focused on creating and sharing practical programming tools that can be easily implemented back on our campuses. Special thanks to Elizabeth Wall(Southwood Elem.), Connie Jackson (Pine Bluff Jr. High), and Larissa Davis (Pine Bluff Sr. High) for helping facilitate a successful and energizing session—Pine Bluff School District librarians are connected, innovative, and always leading the way for literacy and learning.

Judge Earnest Brown, Jr. Visits 34th Avenue Elementary as Leader Reader Today, Judge Earnest Brown, of the 6th Division Circuit Court visited the second-grade classes at 34th Avenue Elementary as part of the Leader Reader Program. Judge Brown read David Goes to School to the scholars, who eagerly participated in a lively discussion about good behavior and making positive choices in school. The visit encouraged students to reflect on how their actions can create a respectful and productive learning environment. Everyone had a wonderful time learning and engaging with Judge Brown.
