The scholars of Southwood Elementary were excited to participate in our Kick-Off Assembly for Red Ribbon Week. This year's theme is "Life is a Puzzle, Solve it Drug Free". Our Principal, Dr. Watson, welcomed everyone and reiterated the importance of how every piece of a puzzle is important to completing a puzzle, and how every decision the students make is important in their life. Next, one of our 6th grade students introduced our special guests: Rev. Kevin Crumpton of GVI and Case Manager Ms. Penister, who spoke to our scholars about making good choices and being drug free. There were also trivia questions with prizes. The closing words Rev. Crumpton gave our students were "Stay Safe, Stay Alive, Stay Free!" Mr. Sims, our Assistant Principal, gave additional final words and a token of gratitude to our special guests, along with a big "Thank you" from our scholars. Finally, Mrs. Brown, our Counselor, introduced a VERY special song to our scholars; be on the lookout for the video coming soon!
