Join us Tuesday, August 25 at 6:00 p.m. for an evening of engagement, connection, and learning! We will discuss the importance of scholars being present, on time, and ready to learn every day, as well as ways families can support success at home.
📚 Homework Folders
Homework folders were sent home Monday and include important information about your scholar’s learning and upcoming school events. Please review these folders regularly.
All homework instructional assignments are due every Friday. Homework provides valuable additional practice and reinforces the skills scholars are learning in the classroom. Your support in ensuring assignments are completed is essential to continued academic growth.
⏰ Attendance Matters!
Every minute matters! Scholars should be present, on time, and ready for learning each and every day for the full instructional day. Consistent attendance is an important part of academic success.

What an amazing kickoff to the first day of school! Our scholars were present, ready, and engaged for learning, and we appreciate your partnership in helping make today a success.
As we settle into the new school year, we need your assistance with a few important reminders:
• Bus Transportation: If your scholar is a bus rider, they must ride the bus to school in the morning in order to ride the bus home in the afternoon.
• Dismissal: Dismissal begins promptly at 3:15 p.m. Please make every effort to pick up your scholar by 3:30 p.m.
• Early Checkouts: Please help us avoid establishing a pattern of early checkouts. Leaving school early results in lost instructional time and can negatively impact student learning and academic achievement.
• Required Forms: Please return all required forms, including the Parent Compact, Student Information Sheet, and Technology Agreement. Scholars will not be permitted to use school technology until the Technology Agreement has been received.
Finally, thank you for ensuring your scholar was present, ready, and prepared for a successful first day of school. Your partnership is essential to our success, and we look forward to an outstanding year together.

The Pine Bluff School District officially kicked off the 2026–2027 school year with its annual Convocation, bringing together administrators, faculty, staff, and our newest team members under this year's inspiring theme: "A Champion for Every Child."
Superintendent Carlock challenged every educator and staff member to be more than an employee—to be a champion and advocate for every student who walks through our doors. His message was clear: every child deserves someone who believes in them, supports them, and helps them succeed.
We also proudly welcomed and recognized our new hires, who are joining the Pine Bluff School District family this year.
Board President Arnold Robertson offered words of encouragement before guest speaker Judge Earnest Brown delivered a powerful message about being fully invested in the lives of our students. He reminded us that meaningful change happens one child, one classroom, and one day at a time—and that together, those moments will continue to strengthen the Pine Bluff School District.
The district also recognized 64 outstanding students for their exceptional performance on the Arkansas ATLAS assessment. These scholars earned top scores in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science, demonstrating the academic excellence that continues to grow across our district. 📚
As we celebrate the achievements of our students, welcome new members to our PBSD family, and prepare for another year of learning, one thing is certain—the countdown to the first day of school is almost over, and we are ready to make this our best year yet!

These letters contain important information regarding your child’s performance on the ATLAS ELA Summative Assessment, promotion requirements, possible retention status, good cause exemptions, literacy intervention supports, and the upcoming ATLAS ELA retake scheduled for June 2–3, 2026.
If you have not received your child’s letter, please contact the school office as soon as possible so we can provide another copy and discuss your child’s academic progress and support plan.

Have your scholar write a heartfelt note, card, or draw a picture for their teacher.
A few kind words go a long way in building our culture of appreciation.
Tuesday – “Treat Them Tuesday” 🍪
Send a small snack, drink, or favorite treat for your teacher.
(Examples: chips, candy, coffee, or a baked good)
Wednesday – “Wear Your Thanks Wednesday” 👕
Scholars can wear blue & orange or a shirt that shows appreciation for teachers.
